In 2002, Thuringia had sold this Land Special Hospital to Asklepios, today this hospital is the largest psychiatric special clinic in East Germany, and is specialized in psychiatrics, psychotherapy, psychosomatics, neurology as well as child and juvenile psychiatry. A part of the clinic serves to execute disciplinary actions. The former Land Special Hospital for Psychiatry and Neurology with its child and juvenile psychiatric departments looks back to a long history in Stadtroda. Some phases of this history, e.g. the participation in the National Socialists’ euthanasia programs have not been fully clarified.
